Beauty in the Age of Ugliness

The author attempts to answer some thorny questions: "How do people perceive beauty in a time like this? Is our world experiencing a ‘crisis of beauty‘?" Our era, a time of change for the better, seeks beauty in people, society, politics, and morality, after all the ugliness that has afflicted many aspects of our lives and perhaps even our souls. The author tries to discover beauty, drawing on various disciplines such as psychology, theology, philosophy, film criticism, semiotics, and others. He takes two models or icons of beauty, or two women from different worlds: the spiritual world of Shulamith, the heroine of the Song of Songs, the most famous ode to romantic love, intimacy between spouses, and a spirituality that borders on mysticism; and the world of the earthly realm of Cinderella, the heroine of famous fairy tales and the most famous example of beauty that has been suppressed. The book consists of six chapters filled with adventures, questions, and explorations into diverse areas, all striving to reach desired and accurate conclusions.
